“The House Friends”

appears in New Ghost Stories III from The Fiction Desk.

Edward Rymes, a physics teacher from Chicago, has the chance to buy his rural childhood home that his late father built . . .  but he has competition.

That’s the premise of The House Friends, a ghost story by Richard Agemo which appears in an anthology published by The Fiction Desk.

Agemo’s story won third prize in The Fiction Desk’s 2017 ghost story contest, which received over 600 entries.

“The notion of a place holding a grip on somebody interests me,” says Agemo. “The House Friends tries to take that idea to an extreme level. I’m very grateful The Fiction Desk chose my story.”
